The Angaston Blacksmith Shop & Museum (A&H Doddridge Forge) is a working blacksmith museum on the main street of Angaston in the Barossa. Volunteers of the Angaston and Penrice Historical Society Inc. demonstrate the art of blacksmithing and guide you through three rooms of blacksmith memorabilia.
Established on the present site in 1873, the forge has survived war, depression and countless technological revolutions to stand today as one of the few remaining main street "smithies" in Australia.
As the industrial heart of the village of Angaston, it was a place of ideas and work, where young and old alike would come to witness the expertise and listen to the stories of the blacksmith. It is a very special place and an extraordinary example of the ingenuity and commitment of a bygone era.
The beauty of the Angaston Blacksmith Shop is its authenticity, its functional architecture and atmosphere which captures the essence of life through three generations of the Doddridge family's blacksmith endeavour since 1849.
Each weekend our blacksmiths look forward to showcasing their skills and knowledge to visitors from all over the world. A wonderful, immersive experience for the whole family.
Open Saturdays & Sundays and some public holidays from 1-4pm. Entry by gold coin donation.
*Re- opening from Saturday 13 June with social distancing measures in place*...
